Make sure you read these before and after your appointment!
Your hair must be at least 1/4″ long (5 weeks since your last wax or 4 weeks since you last shaved). Coming in for a wax too soon may leave you with some unwanted stubble.
Taking a warm shower and gently exfoliating the skin prior to service will provide an easier exit of the hair follicles, ensuring smoother results.
You’re clear to take a Tylenol 30-45 minutes prior to service to dull the nerves and ease the pain.
Let us know if it’s your first time waxing, if you’re pregnant, if it’s that time of the month, or if you’ve had previous adverse reactions to waxing. This will allow us to cater your service to your needs.
Avoid heat related activities such as hot baths, hot yoga, steam rooms and tanning immediately before service.
Avoid caffeine and alcohol immediately before your service. Stimulants in the system can cause the skin to be extra sensitive.
Do not wax if you are on any skin sensitive medications such as Accutane or Retin-A. Skin sensitive medications may cause the skin to lift.
You may experience some redness which usually subsides within 24-48 hours. If it was your first time waxing and/or you have coarse hair, you may experience more irritation than usual due to the hair follicles being very rooted.
After a wax, your pores just want to breathe. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that won’t rub against and/or irritate the skin.
It is imperative to keep your freshly waxed pores CLEAN for at least
24 hours after your service. Any sweat and/or bacteria that enters the pores may cause an adverse reaction. The following are some common activities to avoid immediately after waxing:
NO heat related activities (hot baths, hot yoga, steam rooms)
NO excessive exercise/sweating
NO swimming in chlorinated pools
NO pedicures/foot soaks (for lower leg waxes).
You’ll have the urge to pick up the razor, but don’t do it. Regular, consistent waxing will lead to regrowth that is softer and sometimes even more sparse.
To prevent those pesky, painful ingrown hairs, it’s important to start exfoliating your skin about a week after your wax. Use a gentle exfoliating washcloth daily to get rid of any dull skin that may be blocking your pores and preventing new hair growth from coming through.
For best results, book your next appointment in 5-6 weeks. Hair grows in different cycles, so you’ll want to avoid coming in too soon, to ensure you’re not left with any unwanted stubble.
